Reduce the height and spread of a tree
This pruning method is used when the tree has outgrown its surroundings.
Crown reduction retains the density of the tree, but reduces the height and spread of its branches, making it more compact, without destroying the basic shape of the crown.
This helps to minimise stress and maintain the tree’s natural form.

Crown reduction is the process of removing the top canopy of the tree. This can be for the purpose of gaining more light to a property or to reduce the size of a tree that is becoming a concern (ie. overhead cables).
Crown reduction is better than completely taking the tree down and results in a more tidy compact shape to the tree.
